For the second consecutive week, two players from the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team have been recognized as College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Players of the Week. The announcement was made by the CCIW on Monday, October 13.
Senior Taylor French was named CCIW Hitter of the Week. Junior Sophia Feeney received CCIW Setter of the Week honors. This is Feeney's first weekly award this season and her second overall, with her previous recognition coming on October 7, 2024. French has now earned her twelfth career Hitter of the Week award and third this season, having previously won on September 8 and September 22.
Other members of the Illinois Wesleyan team have also been recognized this season. Alex Bardouniotis was named hitter of the week on October 6, Eleanor Palmer defensive player on October 6, Alysa Lawton defensive player on September 8, and Kannyn Boyd defensive player also on September 8.
French and Feeney led their team to a four-set victory over Carthage College on Wednesday, October 8. In that match, French recorded 16 kills with an average of four per set and a .262 hitting percentage. She also contributed six aces—averaging 1.5 per set—along with 13 digs (3.25 per set) and one block. Feeney guided the offense with 28 assists (seven per set in a 6-2 rotation) and added five digs.
The win improved Illinois Wesleyan’s record to 15-1 overall and maintained their perfect conference record at 4-0.
The team is scheduled to play North Central College at home in the Shirk Center on Wednesday night, October 15 at 7 p.m.
