Redbird freshman Grace Petrie has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Freshman of the Week for the second week in a row, according to an announcement from the conference league office.

This marks the seventh consecutive week that a player from Illinois State has received a weekly MVC honor, tying the program’s longest streak since 2019.

Petrie played a key role in Illinois State’s recent 1-0 victory over UNI in Cedar Falls on Saturday. The win extended the Redbirds’ unbeaten streak to seven games. The team also achieved its fourth consecutive shutout and ninth overall for the season, which places Illinois State tied for sixth nationally in total shutouts this year.

So far this season, Petrie leads all Redbird freshmen with 1,281 minutes played. She has played every minute in each of the last 11 matches.

Illinois State fans can find tickets, merchandise, and other information through GoRedbirds.com and the Illinois State Redbirds App.
