Illinois State University sophomore Elise Fennell has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Golfer of the Week, marking her second time receiving this recognition. The announcement follows her performance at the Lady Red Wolves Classic.

Fennell tied for fourth place out of 102 golfers at the tournament, recording rounds of 70, 73, and 69 for a total score of 212. This score ties for the ninth-lowest tournament score in Illinois State program history. Over the current season, Fennell has posted seven rounds at or under par, which is the tenth-most in a single season for the program. She also now has 21 career rounds at or under par, tying her with Percy Family Athletics Hall of Famer Samantha Richdale for third-most in school history.

So far this season, Fennell has played 12 rounds and is averaging 72.8 strokes per round. She has achieved two top-five finishes and recorded a low round of 69 during the recent competition.

Illinois State recently concluded its fall golf season and will resume play on Sunday, February 1 at the UNCG / Advance Golf Partner Collegiate event hosted by UNC Greensboro in West Palm, Florida.
