Senior Hannah Tellor of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week. This recognition, announced Monday, marks the second time in her career that Tellor has received the defensive honor.
Tellor is the fourth Illinois Wesleyan player to earn the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week award this season. The team has seen six different athletes receive weekly honors, accumulating a total of nine CCIW accolades. Other players recognized this season include Taylor French, Sophia Feeney, Alex Bardouniotis, Eleanor Palmer, Alysa Lawton, and Kannyn Boyd.
During the week, Tellor contributed to the Titans' 3-1 record, which included a significant win over North Central College in four sets. She recorded 37 kills, averaging 2.31 per set with a .287 hitting percentage. Tellor also tallied 13 blocks (0.81 per set), 13 digs, five aces, and one assist.
In the match against North Central on October 15, Tellor had six kills, four blocks, two aces, and two digs. The Illinois Wesleyan defense held North Central to a .010 attack percentage. On October 17 against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, she posted 11 kills with a .276 hitting percentage, five digs, four blocks, and two aces. Tellor's strongest performance came on October 18 in a five-set win over Cornell College, where she registered 15 kills with a .419 hitting percentage, five blocks, four digs, one assist, and an ace. The Titans limited Cornell to a .157 hitting percentage. She concluded the week with five kills and two digs in a sweep of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, holding them to a .145 attack percentage.
The Titans are scheduled to play at Washington University in St. Louis on Tuesday, October 21 at The Athletic Complex. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
"Hannah Tellor is the fourth Titan to earn the defensive honor this season, and the sixth different student-athlete to reel in a weekly honor on a squad that has totaled nine CCIW accolades," according to the release.
