Illinois State University's women's soccer team lost 2-0 to Belmont University in their final regular season match on Thursday at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville.
Belmont took the lead early, scoring from a corner kick in the sixth minute. Illinois State's first shot came in the 30th minute, taken by senior Jade Rehberger, which was also their only attempt of the first half.
At the start of the second half, freshman Rylann Law passed to senior Abby Hall inside the box, but Hall could not convert. Belmont extended its advantage with a second goal in the 63rd minute.
Despite this loss, Illinois State has already qualified for postseason play after a 1-0 victory over Drake on October 23 and will enter as the No. 4 seed in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Redbirds are set to host No. 5 seed Southern Illinois on Sunday, November 2 at Adelaide Street Field at 1 p.m., with live coverage available on ESPN+.
