State Rep. Dan Brady (R-Bloomington) was able to pull out a nearly 5,000-vote win over challenger David Blumenshine in the GOP primary election for the 105th District, capturing 74 percent of the votes.
A successful real estate broker, Blumenshire told his supporters he wasn't giving up.
"Illinois is our home," Blumenshine said in an address to his supporters on election night.
Rep. Dan Brady
"We'll be back in 2020 to run another campaign so that we make sure that the legislators and our governor understand that we cannot continue to go down the same road that we've been going down for Michael Madigan's 42 years and Rep. Brady's 16 years. We are broke and are broken as a state, and it's not getting better."
Brady, who has served as the deputy minority leader of the Illinois House since 2001, will face Democrat Ben Webb in the November general election.
The 105th District includes sections of Bloomington-Normal as well as Lexington, Towanda and Hudson.
