Dwight Township High School District 230 students suspended 26 times in a single school year

Dwight Township High School District 230 reported 26 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 26 students during the year. That equates to 10 percent of the 260 students enrolled.

Of the 10 in-school suspensions, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 10 incidents. For eight incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 16 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 11 incidents. There were four incidents of violence without physical injury. For eight incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
