Gov. Bruce Rauner recently posted the latest installment of his “Brewskis with Bruce” videos, which features the governor drinking a cold beer with residents at DESTIHL Brewery in Normal.
During the video, people pepper the politician with questions about his plans for the state.
Illinois residents are leaving the state in the face of high taxes and slow job creation, according to Rauner. His campaign has promised to address this issue.

Rauner was asked how he will make it more attractive for young people to find a job and stay in Illinois after graduation.
"That is the No. 1 priority. Because we have lots of challenges," Rauner said. "No. 1 priority is to make Illinois competitive and attractive, and grow our economy faster. Our problem in the state of Illinois is that our government spending has been growing at a high rate and our economy has been growing at a slow rate."
When government spending exceeds economic growth, it creates deficits and higher taxes, which impacts jobs and causes younger people to leave the state, Rauner said in the video.
"And then our tax base erodes and then that exacerbates the problem," he said. "So, that's what's been going on in Illinois for 30, 40 years. That's what I'm fighting to change."
Rauner is running against Democratic gubernatorial candidate J. B. Pritzker, and both candidates are advertising heavily.
Rauner’s campaign is focusing on his promise to strengthen the state economy. Illinois young people, Rauner believes, won’t stop leaving the state until they have better job opportunities.
