Nurse

Children's Hospital of Illinois Bloomington issued the following announcement on Oct. 23.

OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center is pleased to announce Toni Bishop-McWain, RN, DNP(c), MSN, has accepted the role of Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer for OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center. Her new role was effective September 24.

In this role, Bishop-McWain will be accountable for leading the nursing operations at OSF St. Joseph to achieve key results and drive superior clinical outcomes. Together with other members of the leadership team, she will establish quality standards and develop policies and procedures for the nursing staff. Bishop-McWain will ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained through the development of continuing education programs.

Bishop-McWain fills the Chief Nursing Officer role vacated by Deb Smith, who has retired.

“It’s an honor to follow Deb Smith, a respected emergency room nurse, chief nursing officer and valued OSF HealthCare Mission Partner for 36 years,” said Bishop-McWain. “I am thrilled to be leading an incredible nursing team and look forward to building on the strong foundation already established.”

Bishop-McWain has served OSF HealthCare since 2012, most recently as the Vice President of Clinical Excellence for OSF St. Joseph. Over her career, Bishop-McWain has held leadership, educational and clinical roles, which all provide excellent background for her new position at OSF St. Joseph. Some of her accomplishments include effectively leading her team to Top 50 CV Hospital in 2016, being the clinical ancillary leader for the integration of two new hospitals as well as a Tier 1 leader on the Mission Partner Opinion Survey.

Bishop-McWain received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, where she went on to complete her Master of Science in Nursing. She will complete her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing in May 2019.
