City of Fairbury Planning Commission met Nov. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

The Planning Commission held a meeting at 12 Noon. Present were Chairman Rick Wilson, Members Rebekah Fehr, Leroy McPherson, Tracy Taylor, Jeremy Leman, Mayor David Slagel. Also in attendance were Michael Blackwell and Planning Commission Secretary Stephanie Meints.

Motion by Leman, second by Taylor to approve the October 10, 2018, minutes. Motion carried unanimously

Michael Blackwell from Dimond Bros. was sitting in to observe and see if Planning Commission is something he would like to become a member of.

Rick Wilson talked about the shopping local and the ways it benefits small communities. He also asked for ideas on how to get the word out to the people to remind them to shop local. He passed out some flyers and stated that some of the benefits to shopping local is more money stays in the city and goes towards the schools, roads, and more.

There were some brain storming ideas on how to make shopping local more appealing and whom they could reach out to, to get it started.
