City of Pontiac issued the following announcement on May 2.
The Vermillion River has continued to rise over the past several days. At 2:45 p.m. this afternoon (May 2, 2019) the level was 17.14 feet. Even though at the present time the date suggests that a crest is near, residents of flood plain areas are encouraged to monitor their property and the river levels. River levels can be seen at https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=lot&gage=pnti2. Sand bags and sand will be available at the municipal parking lot at the corner of Mill and Water Street beginning at 5:00 p.m.
