Bipartisan health insurance bills supported by Rep. Caulkins signed into law

Two bills supported by State Rep. Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) were signed into law Aug. 13. 

The first bill mandates that Illinois insurance companies pay for EpiPen’s for children under the age of 18. This includes changing the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971, the Counties Code, the Illinois Municipal Code, the School Code, the Health Maintenance Organization Act, the Limited Health Service Organization Act, the Voluntary Health Services Plans Act and the Illinois Public Aid Code.

The second bill mandates that people struggling with Lyme disease must be covered under Illinois insurance companies for extended treatment. This bill was sponsored by a large group of representatives and senators. This bill is specifically for the coverage of antibiotic therapy of tick-borne diseases such as Lyme Disease.
