McLean County Unit School District 5 Board of Education met Oct. 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A McLean County Unit District No. 5 Board of Education meeting was held Wednesday, October 2, 2019, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the District Office, 1809 W. Hovey Avenue, Normal, Illinois.

1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL

Members present: Alan Kalitzky, Taunia Leffler, Meta Mickens-Baker, Kelly Pyle, Amy Roser, Mike Trask and President Barry Hitchins. Members absent: None.

Also present: Director of Communications/Community Relations Dayna Brown.

No public comments. 

4. CONSENT AGENDA

A. Personnel Matters

(1) Resignations/Retirements/Releases/Terminations

(4) Leave Requests 

Trask moved, Leffler seconded to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Ayes: Kalitzky, Leffler, Mickens-Baker, Pyle, Roser, Trask, Hitchins. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

5. BOARD SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH PLANNING SESSION

School Exec Connect (SEC) consultants Jill Hawk and Diane Robertson led the Board of Education through a superintendent search planning session. The Board of Education chose a confidential search where only the final candidate will be announced publicly. SEC explained that everyone who will be involved in this process would be trained and would sign a confidentiality agreement. Dayna Brown will be the Unit 5 administrative liaison with SEC.

SEC reported that there will be open forums (one for the staff and one for the public), focus groups and surveys to gather information to develop a new superintendent profile.

The board adjourned at 8:09p.m.
