City of Bloomington issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.
The Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts department invites the community to bring their holiday spirit to Miller Park this Thanksgiving morning, November 28th at 8:00 AM as we host the free 41st Annual Turkey Trot.
The Turkey Trot features a kids’ half mile run, a three mile race for all ages, a 1.5 mile walk and takes place rain, shine or snow.
“Registration begins at the Miller Park Pavilion at 8:00 AM on Thursday, Nov. 28, with the first race beginning at 9:00 AM,” said Denise Balagna, PRCA Athletics Program Manager, adding “It is free to register and participate for all ages.”
This year the race will have a different course. Maps will be on location at the Miller Park Pavilion the morning of the race. Also, race, walk and kids run maps are located on the Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Facebook page.
Coffee, hot chocolate and frozen turkey prizes are donated by The Chateau. Finish line race clock, water station and event bibs donated by Fleet Feet Bloomington
In the spirit of thankfulness the race will have a collection box for food donations going to Home Sweet Home Ministries. To see a list of their most needed items, visit their website at www.hshministries.org
