City of Fairbury City Council met Nov. 6.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order.
2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, Gerald Hoffman, Lynn Dameron and Bill Schmidgall. Charles Hoselton was absent.
3. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Hoffman to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:
A. Minutes from the October 16, , council meeting
B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills
C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)
D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)
E. NONE
F. Overtime Report

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:
→ Doug Aaron encouraged city officials to consider creating a commercial promoting the City of Fairbury and air it on channels catering to dirt track racing

→ Street Superintendent/Fire Chief Steidinger was absent
→ Sewer Superintendent Duncan reported
• Performed a start-up on 2 small pieces of equipment and everything went well
• The wind turbine had a malfunction; a repair crew will be dispatched soon to fix it
→ Water Superintendent Ifft was absent
→ Chief of Police McCormick was absent
→ City Superintendent Ashburn reported
• There was a water leak on Columbia Street the other day which has been repaired
→ City Attorney Mann reported – no report
7. Reports of Aldermen
→ Alderman Norris – no report
→ Alderman Endres – no report
→ Alderman Hoselton was absent
→ Alderman Kinate – no report
→ Alderman Weber – no report
→ Alderman Hoffman asked for more legible handwriting from employees when charging goods/services
→ Alderman Dameron provided a progress update on the new sign that’s being placed in Veteran’s Memorial Park

→ Wayne Varner encouraged the council to consider placing the cannabis questions on the ballot through a referendum
13. Motion by Kinate, second by Dameron to enter Executive Session at 7:26 p.m.
