City of Fairbury City Council met December 18

City of Fairbury City Council met Dec. 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Lynn Dameron and Bill Schmidgall. Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber and Gerald Hoffman were absent.

3. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Schmidgall, second by Norris to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the December 4, , council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Endres Dameron Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

→ State Representative Daniel P Brady presented a Resolution to retiring Water

Department Superintendent Duane Ifft

6. Reports of Departments

→ Street Superintendent/Fire Chief Steidinger was absent

→ Sewer Superintendent Duncan reported was absent

→ Water Superintendent Ifft thanked the Council for the Christmas gift

→ Chief of Police McCormick reported

• The Nissan has been hauled away

→ City Superintendent Ashburn reported

• City Treasurer Dale Diller discovered an error in the audit and is working with the auditing firm to correct the error

→ City Attorney Mann was absent

7. Reports of Aldermen

→ Alderman Norris – no report

→ Alderman Endres – no report

→ Alderman Hoselton was absent

→ Alderman Kinate was absent

→ Alderman Weber was absent

→ Alderman Hoffman was absent

→ Alderman Dameron presented Eagle Scout Joey Trembley with a Proclamation from

Mayor Slagel

→ Alderman Schmidgall – no report

10. New Business – Discussion/Action Items

A. Motion by Dameron, second by Endres to approve pay request #17 in the amount of $662,512.21. Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Endres Dameron Schmidgall

B. Motion by Norris, second by Schmidgall to approve the renewal of the City’s membership with the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce in the amount of $650 payable by December 30, 2019. Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Endres Dameron Schmidgall

C. Motion by Dameron, Second by Endres to promote Mike Mellott to the role of Water Superintendent effective January 1st, 2020. Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Endres Dameron Schmidgall

D. Motion by Endres, second by Norris to hire Alexandria Voorheis for the Utility Billing Clerk position. Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Endres Dameron Schmidgall E. Motion by Norris, second by Norris, second by Dameron to approve the contract between the Village of Forrest and the City of Fairbury for Police Services. Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Endres Dameron Schmidgall

13. Motion by Dameron, second by Schmidgall to enter Executive Session at 6:46 p.m.

Motion by Schmidgall, second by Norris to enter Open Session at 6:58 p.m. Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Endres Dameron Schmidgall

14. Adjournment – Motion by Dameron, second by Norris to adjourn @ 6:58 p.m.
