City of Pontiac Committee of the Whole met Jan. 31.

The Committee of the Whole meeting of the Pontiac City Council was held on Monday January 13, 2020 in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Acting Mayor Alvey called to order the meeting at 6:00 P.M.
The City Clerk was directed to call roll, and the following members of the Council were present: Alvey, Eckhoff, Kallas, Causer, Hicks, Bradshaw, Gabor and Wille.
Agenda
2020-2021 Budget Preparation
Brian Verdun, City Engineer and Chris Brock, Street superintendent presented to Committee the Road Work Recommendations for 2020. There are (2) streets and (2) alleys that need rebuilds, (8) areas needing consideration for overlay work, continue with 2019 projects and treat Pontiac Rd with the GSB 88 material.
MFT funds will be slightly higher this year and if the sales tax referendum passes, money from that can be used to tackle more street repair.
Referendum Planning
Discussion on the need to get out to the city residents and explain the proposed sales tax increase referendum, which will be voted on March 17, 2020. Marketing statements will be put in the sewer bills, on the Pontiac Newsletter, and radio station. Also Acting Mayor Alvey would like Council to each contact (10) residents and explain the need and hopefully those (10) will contact (10) more and on down the line. He would like feedback at the next Committee of the Whole meeting.
