City of Chenoa City Council met Jan. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The Chenoa City Council met in regular session on January 14, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Mayor Wilder, Commissioners Buchanan, Price, Reinhart, Daiker, Attorney Mann, Treasurer Rowold, and City Clerk Rhoades were in attendance.

#5100 Commissioners Price and Buchanan moved and seconded the Motion that the minutes of the Regular meeting of December 9, 2019 and the minutes of the Executive Session of December 9, 2019 be approved and the minutes of the special session of December 18, 2019. That the bills and payrolls be allowed, and orders on the Treasurer be drawn in payment of same. The roll call vote was affirmative.

#5101 Commissioners Buchanan and Price moved and seconded the Motion to approve recommendations from the Zoning Board. The roll call vote was affirmative.

#5102 Commissioners Buchanan and Price moved and seconded the Motion to approve an Ordinance Making Amendments regarding Retail Brewing Facilities to Title 10 of the Chenoa City Code. Ordinance #780 The roll call vote was affirmative.

#5103 Commissioners Daiker and Reinhart moved and seconded the Motion to approve an Ordinance Amending Section 10-8B-3 Regarding Special Uses in an I-2 (General Industrial) District of Title 10 of the City of Chenoa Zoning Ordinance. Ordinance #781 The roll call vote was affirmative.

#5104 Commissioners Buchanan and Price moved and seconded the Motion to approve a Liquor License for Tim Barlow, Class E for Video Gaming. The roll call vote was affirmative.

#5105 Commissioners Price and Buchanan moved and seconded the Motion to approve execution of Warranty Deed in support of the County Division Street Project. The roll call vote was affirmative.

#5106 Commissioners Daiker Reinhart moved and seconded the Motion that the council do now adjourn. The roll call vote was affirmative.

IN OTHER BUSINESS BEFORE THE COUNCIL:

Les Stevens presented the City with military signs for his two son-in-law’s, daughter, and grandson. He asked if the City could put them up in the downtown area. Mayor Wilder said it will get done.

Joey Bell said he has not heard back from the county about the width of his driveway in the easement. Mayor Wilder said, he has not heard anything himself but will reach out to help Joey out.

Mary Johnson with the Economic Development Committee asked for a special meeting in February with the council. They would like the city to consider an incentive for potential businesses that come to town. The have a Facebook page they are still working on. The goal of the page is to let others know about Chenoa and be a guide to businesses that want to come to town. They would like to join it with the city website. They feel the city website needs to be looked at and updated. She said that Scott will no longer be on the committee because he is moving. They would like the council to appoint a new member. They feel Tim Barlow would be good for the committee. Mayor Wilder said they can put them on the agenda for a regular meeting instead of having a special meeting for it. They can appoint a new member next meeting. He also said, they are working with tech support on the website and may be looking at something new.

Commissioner Reinhart said the new hire, Thomas, for the sewer plant is working well so far. He said on December 17 they made a Facebook post about rags and bicycle tubing blocking the sewer lines. They have found that the rags are disposable wipes. He asked the community to be more mindful of what and how much they put in the sewer system. He has looked at a rake that cost about $5,800 to stop the items and keep them from damaging equipment and flow into the pond. He said the water plant’s high-pressure pump needs to be replaced. He said with the post card billing we will be mailing the shut off notices separately.

Commissioner Price the City stopped picking leaves up in December and people are still wanting them picked up. He said there are free bags available at City Hall, which makes it much easier for the guys to pick up.

Mayor Wilder said City Hall is under construction for another month or so. They are doing some maintenance to the building and renovation the police side and ladies office. When that is done, they will do the other side. Council meetings will be held at the VFW until it is done.
