LE ROY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Alternate Memorial Day Service

Memorialday

Le Roy Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 13.

The American Legion, Ruel Neal, Post 79, has planned an alternate service to honor our fallen hero's, who have proudly served this Great Nation. Memorial Service for 2020 will be a march from Post 79 to Oak Grove Cemetery by a Honor Guard.

The Honor Guard will step off from Post 79 at 10 a.m. They will march to Oak Grove Cemetery to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

LeRoy Police Department will escort the Honor Guard during the march from Post 79 down Center St. to Park St. then on US 150 to Oak Grove Cemetery.

We encourage all LeRoy citizens and guests to honor this special march/service. With the Covid 19 rules and restrictions. We encourage and require all to line the march route with vehicles of those who wish to participate. (We ask and require you to stay in your vehicles at all times during the march and service.) This will fulfill the social distance rules, and keep all safe during this service. The governor, mayor and police department require everyone to maintain these requirements. Those attending the service at Oak Grove Cemetery please stay in your vehicles.

The service at Oak Grove will be a short, to honor our fallen service members. A prayer will be giving, the Honor Guard will conduct a 21-gun salute and Taps will be played to end the service. It will last pproximately 5-7 minutes. We want to recognize Memorial Day and honor those who have served our country. With your help and cooperation, we still can make this day special.

Again, we ask you to attend and observe all rules and requirements, for the safety of others and yourself.
