City of Fairbury City Council met June 17.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order.
2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Gerald Hoffman and Lynn Dameron and Bill Schmidgall. Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber and Bill Schmidgall were absent.
3. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
Mayor Slagel thanked the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce for their assistance and donation for making the 20 picnic tables; extended thanks to Lodge members, Jason Leman and Slagel Manufacturing, as well.
4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Dameron, second by Hoffman to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:
A. Minutes from the June 3, 2020, council meeting
B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills
C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)
D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)
E. Sidewalk/Off-Street Parking requests as suggested by the Street Superintendent
F. Overtime Report

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:
Dave Shepherd thanked City Attorney Mann and City Clerk Widlacki for taking care of the issue next door to his home
6. Reports of Departments
→ Street Superintendent/Fire Chief Steidinger reported
• Fire Department air paks came in
• Fire Department received a $5,000 donation from Prairie Central Co-Op
• The Livingston County Electronics Recycling event is this Saturday, June 20th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Steidinger is asking for volunteers to help
→ Sewer Superintendent Duncan was absent
→ Water Superintendent Mellott was absent
→ Chief of Police McCormick – no report
→ City Superintendent Ashburn reported
• Martin and crew have been working hard at getting the pool ready to open and Nancy has been working and getting it staffed; the pool is open Monday through Saturday to Fairbury residents only, Sundays to the general public

→ Alderman Norris reported Deb Moran, ESDA Director, said the meeting scheduled for July 7th has been cancelled. Also thanked the effort from Nancy to get the pool ready

B. Motion by Hoffman, second by Endres to approve Ordinance No. 2020-4 annexing certain territory to the City of Fairbury. Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Enders Hoffman Dameron
C. Motion by Hoffman, second by Norris to approve a bid from McLean County Asphalt Company in the amount of $31,170 for seal coating as part of the 2020-2021 MFT project. Motion carried 4-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoffman Dameron
D. Motion by Dameron, second by Endres to approve a request from Crazy Crains Bar to host the Crazy Crains Music Fest on Saturday, July 25th, on W. Locust Street between 1st and 2nd Streets. Motion carried 3-1. YES-Norris Endres Dameron NO-Hoffman
