City of Fairbury City Council met  July 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, Lynn Dameron and Bill Schmidgall. Gerald Hoffman was absent.

3. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the July 1, 2020, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Dameron Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

 NONE

6. Reports of Departments

→ Street Superintendent/Fire Chief Steidinger was absent

→ Sewer Superintendent Duncan was absent

→ Water Superintendent Mellott was absent

→ Chief of Police McCormick – no report

→ City Superintendent Ashburn was absent

→ City Attorney Mann was absent

7. Reports of Aldermen

→ Alderman Norris reported on an injury at the pool

→ Alderman Endres reported on a complaint received about speeding on First Street

→ Alderman Hoselton – no report

→ Alderman Kinate thanked Martin and his crew for their hard work on Saturday night after the storm

→ Alderman Weber received a call from someone in Timber Ridge about not enough chipping on Timber Ridge Drive. Alderman Weber called City Superintendent Ashburn; Street Superintendent Steidinger had the street fixed in no time

→ Alderman Hoffman – was absent

→ Alderman Dameron reported that Alderman Hoffman would like to schedule a Police & Fire Committee meeting for Wednesday, July 22nd @ 6 p.m.

→ Alderman Schmidgall – no report

8. Items Removed from Consent Agenda – NONE

9. Old Business – Discussion/Action Items - NONE

10. New Business – Discussion/Action Items A. Motion by Kinate, second by Dameron to approve request #25 in the amount of $389,619.80. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Dameron Schmidgall

B. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Norris to approve the 2020-2021 Annual Appropriation Ordinance of the City of Fairbury, Livingston County, Illinois. Motion carried 7-0. YESNorris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Dameron Schmidgall

C. Motion by Weber, second by Dameron to reduce the 2020-2021 liquor license fees by 50% which equates to a $350 renewal fee

• Shared the Water Tower Inspection Report
