Bloomington Township Fire Protection District responded to 58 calls in 2018 - 28.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Bloomington included 34 fires - 13 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 11 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $209,400 in fire loss - or about $6,159 per fire.

The department also received 23 false calls.

The Bloomington Township Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $605,948 in 2018.

The Bloomington Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 108 active employees and 103 retired or inactive employees, was $1,255,293 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $39,228 for every fire in 2017.
