City of Fairbury City Council met Feb. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Lynn Dameron and Bill Schmidgall. Gary Norris, Bruce Weber and Gerald Hoffman were absent.

3. NONE

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Dameron to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the January 20, 2021, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 5-0. YES-Endres Hoselton Kinate Dameron Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

6. Reports of Departments

→ Streets & Fire – Martin Steidinger, Superintendent & Chief was absent 

→ Sewer – Brad Duncan, Superintendent reported

• Scheduled a Water & Sewer Committee meeting for Tuesday, February 16, 2021 @ 6 p.m. to discuss the end of the Long Term Control Plan Project

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent was absent

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief reported

• The new squad has been ordered and should be built by the end of March 

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported

• The City received a $78,000 check from the program CURES for payroll reimbursement during COVID-19

→ Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney – no report

7. Reports of Aldermen

→ Alderman Norris was absent

→ Alderman Endres – no report

→ Alderman Hoselton – no report

→ Alderman Kinate asked why Peterson Motors never bids on Police Department vehicles

→ Alderman Weber was absent

→ Alderman Hoffman was absent

→ Alderman Dameron – no report

→ Alderman Schmidgall – no report

9. Old Business – Discussion/Action Items

A. Motion by Dameron, second by Kinate to approve Ordinance No. 2021-1 to sell a section of a city-owned parcel to Gail & Keith Schladenhauffen in the amount of $1,500. Motion carried 5-0. YES-Endres Hoselton Kinate Dameron Schmidgall

10. New Business – Discussion/Action Items

A. Motion by Kinate, second by Schmidgall to purchase holiday decorations for Locust Street. Motion carried 5-0. YES-Endres Hoselton Kinate Dameron Schmidgall 

B. Motion by Kinate, second by Dameron to approve equipment purchases and decals for new police vehicle. Motion carried 5-0. YES-Endres Hoselton Kinate Dameron Schmidgall

C. FYI – Administrative fees for Police Department - SHARED
