City of Fairbury Zoning Board of Appeals Met May 6

Meeting 07

City of Fairbury Zoning Board of Appeals Met May 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A public meeting of the Fairbury Zoning Board of Appeals was held at the City Hall in Fairbury, Illinois at 6 PM, pursuant to a notice published in the Blade.

Present: Chairman Gerry Vance, members Sam Pica, Seth Welch, Tom Bull, Jim Tipton, and Eric Ray; Zoning Administrator Nancy Widlacki and applicant, Phillip Bjork.

Chairman Vance called the meeting to order and asked ZA Widlacki to read the reason for the Application for Variance:

Application of Phillip Bjork, requesting a variance in area regulations of said Zoning Ordinance to permit an accessory structure to be built that exceeds size limitations; said property being described, to-wit:

25-25-03-304-019

LOT 50 x 150, LOT 4 BLK 12 MARSH ADD

Chairman Vance called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and asked Mr. Bjork if he would please tell the Board what his plans are. Mr. Bjork said he wants to build a 30’ x 36’, 9 ft tall garage. He said they have winter birthdays and he would rather use the garage for gatherings instead of tracking snow through their home. He also said they have a golf cart, riding lawn mower, 5 bikes, power wheels plus weed eater and other things that are stored in the back yard under a tarp. Having a large enough garage to keep all these things in plus entertain would be ideal. Member Welch asked what the neighbors’ opinions were. Mr. Bjork said they were all okay with the garage. A question-answer period between the members and the applicant ensued allowing the members to have a better grasp of the project. The applicants have plenty of room on their lot to build the type of structure they’re wanting. Member Bull noted the garage is likely to be as large or possible larger than the house. Member Ray stated the garage Mr. Bjork is asking to build will look nicer than another property in town that was approved by the ZBA.

Variance passed unanimously to build a 30’ x 36’ accessory building.

There being no further or other business to come before the meeting, the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
