Groundbreaking ceremony announced for new outdoor education theater at Miller Park Zoo

29

City of Bloomington issued the following announcement on Aug. 24

Miller Park Zoo will hold an official groundbreaking ceremony for the new outdoor education theater on Wednesday, September 1, at 11:00 AM at the Zoo located at 1020 S. Morris Avenue in Bloomington, Illinois.

To mark the occasion Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Director/Zoo Director Jay Tetzloff will give brief remarks along with Paula Pratt, Development Director of the Zoological Society. The theater is expected to be completed by late fall 2021.

The theater, to be located between the Zoo Lab building and the Bald Eagle exhibit, is an important backdrop for education programs at the zoo and sets the stage for new programs and exhibit expansion.  The theater will be named after Sullivan Rohrscheib, son of Josh and Ciarra Rohrscheib. Wanting to honor their son's memory with a place that brings joy to children, the Rohrsheibs made a significant financial commitment to the project.

The groundbreaking is open to the public in attendance at the Zoo. For more information contact Jay Tetzloff at Miller Park Zoo, (309) 434-2250.
