City of Bloomington issued the following announcement on Dec. 3
Two weeks after showing symptoms of COVID, test results on the one Sumatran Tiger and four Snow Leopards at Miller Park Zoo were returned today.
All the tests submitted on the big cats have come back positive for COVID-19. The care and treatment of the cats has not changed as staff and veterinarians took precautions as soon as symptoms were seen.
“Since the Katthoefer Animal Building has been closed for almost two weeks, any issue has been isolated” said Zoo Superintendent Jay Tetzloff. “The Miller Park Zoo, as always, is safe for our guests to come out to the Zoo and enjoy Wild Lights.”
Wild Lights prices for opening weekend, December 3 & 4, 2021, will be free to Miller Park Zoological Society members and $5 for non-members. Anyone who purchased full price tickets in advance will receive a $3 reimbursement or they can choose to have the money go to the Zoo as a charitable donation. For now, pricing for the second weekend of the event, December 10 & 11, 2021, will remain at $3 for Miller Park Zoological Society members and $8 for non-members.
Masks are required at all indoor spaces at Miller Park Zoo. Miller Park Zoo is in Miller Park located at 1020 S. Morris Ave. Bloomington, Illinois. For more information on Zoo events phone (309) 434-2250 or online at MillerParksZoo.org.
