Illinois State University recently issued the following announcement.

2022 University-Wide Teaching & Learning Symposium

Date: Wednesday, January 5th

Time: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Cost: Registration is required

Website: https://ctlt.illinoisstate.edu/symposium/

Event Description

Few things have illustrated the paramount importance of connections between students and instructors like the coronavirus pandemic. As we move into a new year, we hope to explore the interconnected strands of relationship-rich education, authentic learning, and authentic assessment.

This year’s Symposium theme asks: How can we encourage students to make human connections, with those who teach them and among themselves, in ways that shape their learning environments and provide transformative experiences?

Two keynote speakers will help us explore these questions. Peter Felten is executive director of Elon University’s Center for Engaged Learning and author of Relationship-Rich Education: How Human Connections Drive Success in College. David Rettinger is the director of Academic Integrity Programs at the University of Mary Washington.

The Symposium will feature a mixed format: The morning workshops and keynote presentations will be held online. After lunch on your own, come to campus for face-to-face presentations and panel discussions in Milner Library, followed by a poster session and reception in the Bone Student Center. Please note: Sessions will not be recorded. In-person sessions will not be available via Zoom.

Registration is required by Friday, December 17, 2021. If you need an accommodation to fully participate in this event, please email CTLT@ilstu.edu.

If you will need special accommodations, please contact the event organizer.
