City of Bloomington issued the following announcement on Jan. 18
The City of Bloomington will host its annual Black History Essay Contest for Bloomington youth in February.
Submitted works should speak to the resilience of a people who utilized some of their most valuable assets to rise above obstacles. Young writers can honor black entertainers, artists, writers, justices, activists, leaders, visionaries – those who have inspired and had an impact.
Contest entries can be made at https://cityblm.seamlessdocs.com/f/blackhistory
with a submission deadline of February 11, 2022.
Winners will be notified via email and announced February 25th. Awards and prizes will be distributed the following week. Prizes & Awards presented to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place winners in Elementary (Grades 4-6); Middle School (Grades 7-8); and
High School (Grades 9-12) categories.
