City of Fairbury City Council met April 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, Gerald Hoffman, James Tipton and Bill Schmidgall. Charles Hoselton was absent

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Hoffman to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the March 16, 2022, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. Sidewalk request for 522 S 5th St; 225 sq ft @ $1.75/sq ft = $393.75

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent was absent

• The new truck is finally on the road

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported

• Scheduled a Finance committee meeting for Wednesday, April 20th @ 6 p.m.

→ Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney was absent

A. Motion by Weber, second by Endres to approve a request from the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce to close streets for the annual community sale on Saturday, May 7th; 100-200 blk W Locust, 100 blk E Locust, 3rd St north of RR tracks to the alley behind Bank of Pontiac. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

B. Motion by Endres, second by Norris to approve Motor Fuel Resolution No. 2022-4-6-A for the 2022-2023 work and budget. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

C. Motion by Endres, second by Kinate to approve pay request #3 (Final) to Iroquois Paving in the amount of $17,762.59 for the 1st through 4th St. sewer project. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

D. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Endres to approve Ordinance No. 2022-5 Fixing Compensation Of Certain Employees Of The City Of Fairbury and contracts for the Police Chief and the City Superintendent. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

E. Consideration of a green energy program for Ameren electric bills - TABLED

F. Motion by Kinate, second by Weber to approve Resolution No. 2022-4-6-B appointing Cindy Helmers to the Dominy Memorial Library board to fill the vacancy by James Paternoster. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

G. Motion by Norris, second by Hoffman to approve a request to hold a 5k & Fun Run in North Park on Saturday, May 14th @ 9 a.m. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
