City of Fairbury City Council met Jan. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of

Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Jerry Hoffman, James Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall. Bruce Weber was absent

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Schmidgall, second by Tipton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the December 21, 2022, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

6. Reports of Departments

→ Streets & Fire – Martin Steidinger, Superintendent & Fire Chief-

• The fire department got the bed put on their new truck. They are now waiting on a quote from Supreme for emergency lighting for the truck.

→ Sewer – Brad Duncan, Superintendent– absent

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – no report

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief – no report

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent

• A personnel committee meeting was scheduled for January 30th, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

→ Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney – no report

7. Reports of Aldermen

→ Alderman Norris – no report

→ Alderman Endres – no report

→ Alderman Hoselton – no report

→ Alderman Kinate – no report

→ Alderman Weber – absent

→ Alderman Hoffman – no report

→ Alderman Tipton – The Old City Hall rehab project is going great.

→ Alderman Schmidgall – no report

A. Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve quote from Layne to rehab Well #3.

Motion carried 7-0 YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

B. Motion by Endres, second by Hoselton to approve estimate from Steidinger Brothers Inc. to replace heat at Old City Hall. Motion carried 7-0 YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

12. Public Comment

➢ A thank you card was sent from Kathy Cook from the food pantry to thank The City for their donation.

13. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Kinate to enter Exec Session @ 6:39 p.m.

A. Personnel – Section 2(c)(1) – Employee hiring, firing, compensation, discipline and performance. (Note: An independent contractor is not an employee).

Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to enter Open Session at 7:14 p.m.

ACTION AFTER EXECUTIVE SESSION

14. Adjournment – Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to adjourn at 7:14 p.m.
