Village of Gridley Village Board met Sept. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. President Benedict opened with a word of prayer.

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. Absent was: Susan Laiming. Employee Mark Peterson was present.

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the August meeting minutes. There were none. Jay made a motion to approve the minutes and Kevin seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Michael made a motion to approve the bills and Mick seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

The board reviewed the Treasurer’s Report. After discussion, Mick made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Jay seconded. All present answered in favor.

Richard presented the annual Certified Water System Operator Agreement with Jay Zehr at a cost of $500/month. After discussion, Richard made a motion to approve the agreement. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick presented a quote from Todd Witzig in the amount of $4,800.00 for trimming 9 trees in the City Park and removing 2 trees near the cannon. It also included trimming one broken limb at 6th and Woodford. After discussion, Mick made a motion to approve the quote. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Jay made a motion to recess for a zoning hearing. Richard seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick read the Notice of Public Hearing for Variance petitioned by King Rentals Ltd. requesting a Variance for the East side yard set-back from 5 feet to 1 foot for the property known as 502 Eastern Drive for the purpose of building a storage shed of a size to make the most use of the lot. After viewing the photos and reviewing the request, trustees nor public had any objections. Zoning hearing was closed.

Mick made a motion to resume regular session. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick made a motion to pass Ordinance #645 – Ordinance for Variance for King Rentals Ltd. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Jeff introduced Sandy Cook with CliftonLarsonAllen, CPA who conducted the village audit. Sandy presented copies of the FYE2023 audit to the board along with a review.

Michael reviewed with the board the property committee meeting concerning the pool. The committee spoke with Andrews Engineering regarding the leaks and the age of the pool. Andrews recommends having various sections of

the pool pressure tested. Falcon Pools will pressure test the entire plumbing system and gutter system at a cost of $150/hr. plus material. The cost is for two persons and Falcon Pools will provide potential solutions. Andrews Engineering said the cost is very reasonable. After discussion, Michael made a motion to hire Falcon Pools to test the pool at a cost of $150/hr. plus material. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones

yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Michael made a motion to go into execution session to discuss property. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick made a motion to resume regular session at 8:06 p.m. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Michael made a motion to pass Ordinance #646 Conditionally Approving the Purchase of 9 acres East of Market Street and North of 8th St. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Michael made a motion to hire Farnsworth Group at an estimated cost of $4,800 to conduct an engineering study on the 9-acre property. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick made a motion to adjourn. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea and Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.
