Village of Gridley Village Board met Oct. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. President Benedict opened with a word of prayer.

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Susan Laiming, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. No employees were present.

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the September meeting minutes. There were none. Jay made a motion to approve the minutes and Kevin seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Mick made a motion to approve the bills and Michael seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried. Treasurer’s report was not available.

The trustees reviewed closed session minutes for content for which more than 18 months have elapsed. Minutes are from: 2/4/19, 5/6/19, 7/1/19, 10/7/19. 1/6/20, 2/3/20, 3/2/20, 6/1/20, 11/5/20, 4/5/21, 7/5/21 and 4/4/22. There is no court order requiring preservation of these records.

Mick made a motion to allow the clerk to destroy the tapes of these closed session minutes. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

The trustees discussed Trick or Treat hours and determined that Trick or Treating will be Tuesday, October 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The clerk reported that the final audit bill will require a transfer into the audit fund of $8,500. Susan made a motion to transfer $8500 from General Fund into Audit Fund. Michael seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

The annual 5-point inspection for the water tower by Aegion Corrpro will be at a cost of $855.00. Michael made a motion to approve the Corrpro agreement for the annual inspection at a cost of $855.00. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Susan made a motion to recess for a zoning hearing. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick read the Notice of Public Hearing for Variance petitioned by Steven and Tami Wright, requesting a Variance for the East side yard set-back from 3 feet to 0 foot for the property known as 117 Northview, for the purpose of erecting a fence without destroying established landscaping. The next-door neighbor, John Dent spoke and affirmed that he has no objection as long as the fence is ON the property line and as long as he can tie on to it in the event he decides to fence his back yard. Mr. Wright has no objection. After viewing the photos and reviewing the request, trustees, nor public had any objections. Zoning hearing was closed.

Susan made a motion to resume regular session. Michael seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Michael made a motion to pass Ordinance #647 – Ordinance for Variance for Steven and Tami Wright. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Trustees were given copies of a proposed tax levy ordinance from review prior to the November board meeting.

Mick made a motion to extend the board meeting to Monday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. No employees were present.

The trustees reviewed the engineering plans and drainage calculation for storm water for the proposed addition to Christ Community Church of Gridley. The plans have been approved by Steven Edwards, the village engineer from Andrews Engineering.

After review and discussion, Mick made a motion to approve the plan for stormwater and to remove the contingency from Ordinance #643 of January 2023 to allow the variance of the front property line setback from 25 feet to zero feet, to allow the variance of parking spaces required from 200 to 216 spaces to 180 to 190 spaces, both contingent upon village board approval of a storm water detention plan. Jay seconded the motion. Roll Call: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Motion carried.

Richard made a motion to adjourn. Mick seconded. Roll Call: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.

October 16, 2023

President Benedict opened a special meeting with a word of prayer. President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Susan Laiming, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. No employees were present.

The only item on the agenda was to approve hiring an attorney to intervene for real estate tax complaints by companies who wish to have their assessment lowered by more than $100,000. After discussion, Jay made a motion to approve hiring an attorney. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick made a motion to adjourn. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.
