City of Fairbury City Council met Nov. 1.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall. Bruce Weber was absent.
3. Pledge of Allegiance
4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:
A. Minutes from the October 4 and October 18, 2023, council meeting
B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills
C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)
D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)
E. NONE
F. Overtime Report

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

➢ Fire Truck 245 has lights installed. Still waiting on equipment installation.
➢ Locust St sidewalk construction is almost complete

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief reported –
➢ Sent more impound vehicles to auction
➢ Two surplus city vehicles are ready to be sent to auction

C. Motion by Hoselton, second by Norris to approve a request from IHR to host the Overdose and Recovery Awareness 5k Race at Marsh Park. Motion carried 7-0 YESNorris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
D. Motion by Tipton, second by Schmidgall to approve a request from the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce to block off streets 2nd -4 th on Locust Street from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, for the Fairbury Christmas Parade. E. Motion by Tipton, second by Hoffman to approve a request from Wendy Edelman, owner of Woody & Bubba’s BBQ, to operate their food truck on a City Street (101 E Locust St.) Friday, November 3, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. Motion carried 7-0 YES- Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
