Village of Gridley Village Board met Nov. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. President Benedict opened with a word of prayer.

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Susan Laiming, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. Employee Mark Peterson was also present.

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the October meeting minutes. There were none. Susan made a motion to approve the minutes and Kevin seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Mick made a motion to approve the bills and Jay seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Board reviewed the Treasurer’s report. After discussion, Michael made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report. Richard seconded. All trustees answered in the affirmative.

Michael reported that Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association had the lowest bid for the annual insurance needs of the village. The annual cost is $35,089 with a small discount for payment in advance. Michael made a motion to pass Ordinance #650 approving membership in the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association and authorizing the execution of an intergovernmental cooperation contract. Richard seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Jeff introduced Dave Henwood, Account Manager for IML Risk Management Association. Trustees asked questions about the new insurance package and Mr. Henwood was very reassuring that we were getting as good as, and in many cases, better coverage that we currently have.

Michael presented Ordinance #648, Tax Levy Ordinance for 2023 levying in the amount of $176,515. Trustees have had an opportunity to review and there were no questions. Michael made a motion to pass Ordinance #648. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Michael presented Ordinance #649, Abating the Tax levied for the General Revenue Bond. Michael made a motion to pass Ordinance #649. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Jeff reported that Farnsworth Group provided a favorable engineering study on the property in Miller’s Rolling Acres. After discussion, Mick made a motion to proceed with the purchase from Beverly Miller Trust. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Jeff presented the option of having Farnsworth Group Design Phase I and Phase II for a cost savings as opposed to having the phases designed separately. After discussion, Mick made a motion to approve Farnsworth Group designing Phase I and Phase II at a cost of $26,900.00 along with staking Phase I at a cost of $6,100.00. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Michael presented Ordinance #641 – Approving and Authorizing the execution of a TIF Redevelopment Agreement between the Village of Gridley and King Rentals, LTD for a storage building located at 502 Eastern Drive. After discussion, Michael made a motion to pass Ordinance #641. Susan seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Susan made a motion to authorize the purchase of up to $1,000 of Christmas lights, as needed. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick made a motion to adjourn. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.
