City of Fairbury City Council met Jan. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jon Kinate, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Endres, second by Tipton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the December 20, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. None

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 6-0 YES-Norris Endres Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

➢ Sue Popejoy, Jodi Martin, and Al Slagel presented preliminary building plans for the new Intergenerational Center for the Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County

→ Streets & Fire – Martin Steidinger, Superintendent & Fire Chief - absent

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent - absent

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent reported –

➢ A high service water pump motor burnt out. A Replacement pump is 4k

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief - none

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported –

➢ Update on the storm drainage project with the school

→ Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney – absent

A. Motion by Kinate, second by Hoffman to approve Memorandum of Understanding with Illinois Council of Police ICOP for part time officers. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Endres Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

13. Executive Session

Motion by Norris, second by Schmidgall to enter Executive Session at 7:00 p.m.

A. Personnel – Section 2(c)(1) – Employee hiring, firing, compensation, discipline and performance. (Note: An independent contractor is not an employee).

Motion by Schmidgall, second by Kinate to enter Open Session at 7:15 p.m.

14. Adjournment – Motion by Kinate, second by Tipton to adjourn at 7:22 p.m.
