Le Roy Community Unit School District 2 Board of Education met Jan. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A. Call to Order

President Kevin Daugherty called the regular meeting of the Board of Education of to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Administrative Board Room at 805 N. Barnett St., LeRoy.

B. Roll Call

Present were Kevin Daugherty, Tracey Holoch, Andy Johnson, Melinda Mayfield, Bryon Owens, Bob Spratt and Jennifer Tarr. Superintendent Jeff Baughman was also present. Administrators Erin Conn, Nicole Gaddis, Kelsey Winterland, and Steve Reschke were also in attendance.

C. Approve Minutes of the December 11, 2023 Truth in Taxation Hearing.

A motion was made by Jennifer Tarr, seconded by Andy Johnson, to agree to approve the minutes of the December 11, 2023 Truth in Taxation Hearing as submitted. 7 yeas 0 nays. Motion carried.

D. Approve Minutes of the December 11, 2023 Regular Meeting.

A motion was made by Tracey Holoch, seconded by Bryon Owens, to agree to approve the minutes of the December 11, 2023 regular meeting, making a

correction on the IMRF amount on the Consent Agenda item in the minutes. 7 yeas O nays. Motion carried.

E. Approve Consent Agenda

A motion was made by Andy Johnson, seconded by Tracey Holoch, to approve the consent agenda (payroll, Treasurer's Report, Bills, Imprest Fund and Activity Funds) as submitted.

Payroll for December, 2023 in the amount of $402,481.39 plus board contributions as follows:

$9,113.45 to Internal Revenue Service for FICA;

$8,155.31 Internal Revenue Service for Medicare;

$37,333.77 to Blue Cross Blue Shield for major medical insurance;

$37,177.44 to Teachers' Retirement System for 9.0% employer contributions;

$2,320.69 to Teachers' Retirement System for .58% employer contributions;

$2,802.91 to Teachers' Health Insurance System for .92% employer contributions; and

$8,868.12 Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund for 9.67% support staff retirement.

Treasurer's Report as of December 30, 2023

Reimbursement of the Imprest Fund in the amount of $2,819.82.

The activity account reconciliation for the Elementary Activity Account for December, 2023 is attached. The activity account reconciliation for the Jr./Sr. High School for December, 2023 is attached.

Abby Lyons was supposed to present on the Framework for SEL at LeRoy Schools. She had to cancel at the last minute and will present instead at the February 12, 2024 meeting.

1.There was a discussion regarding the JHHS HVAC project and updated timeline of events.

2. Discussion was held regarding IASB Policy Update Issue 113 (second reading).

K. New Business.

1. A motion was made by Andy Johnson, seconded by Bryon Owens, to agree to leave the executive meeting minutes from July 2023 through December 2023 closed. 7 yeas 0 nays. Motion carried.

2. Discussion was held concerning the district property insurance appraisal that was recently conducted.

3. Discussion was held regarding the 2024 State of the Schools.

4. A motion was made by Jennifer Tarr, seconded by Bryon Owens, to agree to Adopt a resolution considering the contents of the LeRoy CUSD #2 Letter to the Illinois Department of Human Services. 7 yeas 0 nays. Motion carried.

L. Enter Executive Session.

1. A motion was made by Andy Johnson, seconded by Bryon Owens, to agree to enter into executive session at 7:36 p.m. 7 yeas 0 nays. Motion carried.

2. A motion was made by Andy Johnson, seconded by Tracey Holoch, to return to open session at 8:01 p.m. 7 yeas 0 nays. Motion carried.

M. Discuss, Consider, and Approve Personnel and Employee Contractual Issues.

1. A motion was made by Melinda Mayfield, seconded by Bryon Owens, to Agree to approve the employment of Lexie Wicklander as a District Special Education teacher effective January 8, 2024 as submitted. 7 yeas 0 nays. Motion carried.

2. A motion as made by Bryon Owens, seconded by Andy Johnson, to agree to Accept the full and complete resignation of Dianne Gillespie as a District Custodian as submitted. 7 yeas 0 nays. Motion carried.

N. Adjournment.

A motion was made by Andy Johnson, seconded by Bryon Owens, to agree to adjourn the meeting at 8:02 p.m. 7 yeas 0 nays. Motion carried.
