City of Fairbury City Council met April 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the April 3, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 8-0 YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

➢ Deb Moran discussed ESDA book updates

6. Reports of Departments

→ Streets Lonnie Rhoads, Superintendent – absent

→ Fire – Josh Hoselton, Chief reported -

➢ Received a $26k small equipment grant from the State Fire Marshall’s Office

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent – absent

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – absent

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief - none

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported –

➢ The Stafford Center Concession window is complete

➢ North Park pickle ball lights are out temporarily due to electrical work being done

➢ A new flag donated in memory of James & Joan Steidinger to the Stafford Pool will be raised on opening day of the pool, May 25th

➢ → Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney – absent

A. Motion by Endres, second by Norris to approve Fiscal year 2024-2025 Pay Ordinance including contracts for Police Chief and City Superintendent. Motion carried 8-0 YESNorris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

B. Consideration to approve amending fee to request a Zoning Board of Appeals Variance hearing to $500. Motion carried 8-0 YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

C. Consideration to approve a budget between 20k-40k from the Fire vehicle from Fire Checking. Motion carried 8-0 YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
