City of Fairbury City Council met May 1.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall. Steve Endres and Bruce Weber were absent.
3. Pledge of Allegiance
4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Tipton, second by Norris to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:
A. Minutes from the April 17, council meeting
B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills
C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)
D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)
E. NONE
F. Overtime Report

➢ Finishing installing windows at the Stafford Center. Pool is close to being finished painted.

B. Motion by Tipton, second by Hoffman to approve a Fairbury Fair Sponsorship of 2.5k. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
C. Motion by Hoselton, second by Kinate to approve $56,308.20 quote from K&S for Street Dept. Vehicle. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
D. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Norris to approve the City Fiscal Budget for 2024- 2025.Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
E. Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to award bid for Fire Dept Suburban to Chuck Bull for $1,550. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
F. Motion by Hoselton, second by Norris to approve road closure request from Dave’s Supermarket to block 3rd St from 7am-2pm for the 74th Anniversary Sale on June 4th. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
G. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Hoselton to approve $17,762 bid from CDS minus $1,124 in additional equipment that will be purchased from Edward’s Upfitting for replacement of in-car laptop computers for Police cars. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
