Village of Gridley Village Board met May 6.

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. President Benedict opened with a word of prayer.

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Susan Laiming, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. Employee Jen Hany was also present.

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the April meeting minutes. There were none. Jay made a motion to approve the minutes and Kevin seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Susan made a motion to approve the bills and Jay seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Trustees reviewed the Treasurer’s report. After discussion, Michael made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report. Richard seconded. All trustees answered in the affirmative.

Michael presented the annual Audit Services Agreement between the Village of Gridley and CliftonLarsonAllen for the FYE April 30, 2024 audit. Cost is estimated to be $33,100-$34,975 plus fees. Michael made a motion to accept the proposal. Richard seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Jay recommended that the adult daily rate for the swimming pool be raised from $3.50 to $4.00 with all other rates to stay the same. After discussion, Jay made a motion to accept the proposal. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Jay presented Resolution 2024-2 accepting the low bid by Knobloch, Inc. for constructing Ninth Street and a portion of Miller Lane for $42,588.75. After discussion, Jay made a motion to pass Resolution 2024-1. Susan seconded. . Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Katie Bachelor attended the board meeting to report that a farmer's market will be planned for the second and fourth Thursdays of July and August. She requested that the Village again donate for the cost of the entertainment. Michael made a motion to spend up to $1,000 for the entertainment. Richard seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Jay reported that the Chenoa police conducted a speed study on Seventh Street. They spent more than 14 hours monitoring the speeds and the average speed was 27 mpg. They are recommending no changes.

Michael made a motion to go into Executive Session at 7:25 p.m. Richard seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Regular session resumed at 7:30 p.m. Jay made a motion to hire Ella Hany as part-time assistant to the water billing clerk/treasurer at the minimum hourly wage rate. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick made a motion to adjourn. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.
