City of Fairbury City Council met July 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall. Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, and Bruce Weber were absent.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Norris, second by Endres to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the June 19, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. Sidewalk requests as suggested by the Street Superintendent

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 5-0 YES- Norris Endres Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

→ Streets - Lonnie Rhoads, Superintendent- none

→ Fire – Josh Hoselton, Chief - absent

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent reported

➢ Receiving quotes on countertop repair at the lab

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – absent

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief - absent

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported

➢ The Street Dept worked with Kafer’s to install sewer on 2nd St

➢ Sidewalk repair on Locust St will begin in the following weeks

→ Legal – Matt Schrock, City Attorney reported

➢ Attended the Zoning Board of Appeals hearing for the White Property development

→ Alderman Norris - none

→ Alderman Endres - none

→ Alderman Hoselton – absent

→ Alderman Kinate – absent

→ Alderman Weber - absent

→ Alderman Hoffman - none

A. Motion by Norris, second by Hoffman to approve Greater Livingston County Economic Development Council (GLCEDC) annual membership dues of $7,916. Motion carried 5-0 YES – Norris Endres Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

B. Motion by Norris, second by Hoffman to approve White Property Planned Unit Development. Motion carried 5-0 YES Norris Endres Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

C. Consideration to approve quote for lighting replacement at City Hall – Failed for lack of motion

D. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Tipton to approve quotes for Vactor repairs and attachment of $9,075. Motion carried 5-0 YES Norris Endres Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

11. Other Items for Discussion & Information

➢ Alderman Hoffman spoke with the auditors & stated they were happy with how the audit went.

12. Public Comment

13. Executive Session

Motion by Norris, second by Endres to enter Exec Session @ 6:49 p.m.

A. Personnel – Section 2(c)(1) – Employee hiring, firing, compensation, discipline and performance.

Motion by Schmidgall, second by Tipton to enter Open Session @ 6:56 p.m.

14. Adjournment – Motion by Tipton, second by Norris to adjourn at 6:58 p.m.
