Illinois State Soccer (1-1-1, 0-0-0 MVC) experienced its first loss of the season on Sunday against Illinois (3-0-1, 0-0-0 Big Ten), with a final score of 4-0 at Demirjian Park.

The Illini took an early lead, scoring in the opening minute and maintaining control throughout the match.

Illinois State managed three shots and one shot on target, which came from freshman Chloe Cline in the 27th minute. This opportunity led to consecutive corner kicks for Illinois State, but they were unable to convert.

Sophomore Madi Valenti made seven saves in her second collegiate start, tying for the second-most by a Redbird goalie over the last two seasons.

GoRedbirds.com and the Illinois State Redbirds App remain available for Illinois State tickets, Weisbecker Athletic Fund gifts, multimedia content, Redbird merchandise, photos, and more.
