City of Fairbury City Council met Aug. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Schmidgall, second by Norris to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the July 17, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 7-0 YES- Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

6. Reports of Departments

→ Streets - Lonnie Rhoads, Superintendent – none

→ Fire – Josh Hoselton, Chief - absent

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent - absent

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – none

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief reported –

➢ The Fair Board asked to have officers patrol the fair

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent – absent

→ Legal – Matt Schrock, City Attorney - absent

7. Reports of Aldermen

→ Alderman Norris reported –

➢ The pool closes for the season Sunday, August 11th

➢ Recognized Pool Manager Alex Reis and Onsite Manager Paula Hoffman for a job well done during the pool season.

➢ Shared information on electric bicycles

→ Alderman Endres - none

→ Alderman Kinate – none

→ Alderman Weber - none

→ Alderman Hoffman - none

→ Alderman Tipton reported –

➢ Approached about traffic increase on the W end of Route 24

→ Alderman Schmidgall reported –

➢ PDC went well, cell service seemed better than previous years

10. New Business – Discussion/Action Items

A. Consideration of a request to park a company vehicle for Livingston County Custodial Services at/on any City Street or Park to advertise the business. – Failed for lack of motion

B. Motion by Kinate, second by Endres to approve contract for lime removal and application from the Water Treatment Plant. Motion carried 7-0 YES- Norris Endres

C. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Endres to approve amendments to pay ordinance.

Motion carried 7-0 YES- Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

D. Motion by Kinate, second by Weber to approve new garbage rate increase by $.75.

Motion carried 7-0 YES- Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

11. Other Items for Discussion & Information

➢ Mayor Slagel read a thank you card from the Fair Board for the City’s donation

14. Adjournment – Motion by Kinate, second by Tipton to adjourn at 6:52 p.m.
