The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team is set to face Wartburg College in a neutral site match in Rock Island, Illinois, on Sunday, September 15. The match will commence at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Park, the home venue for the Augustana College Vikings tennis teams.

Illinois Wesleyan comes into Sunday's contest after participating in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Fall Invitational, which took place on September 7-8. During this two-day tournament, sophomore Chase Tomecki (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) and juniors Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and Sebastian Rasquin (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) advanced to the third-place matches in their respective flights. Tomecki and Hammond competed against each other in the singles flight six bracket's third-place match, with Hammond securing victory by scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Rasquin finished fourth in the singles flight seven.

In doubles competition at the invitational, juniors Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) and Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) achieved a third-place finish in doubles flight one with a record of 2-1 over the weekend.

This upcoming match marks only the second meeting between Illinois Wesleyan and Wartburg. The Knights won their first encounter on February 12, 2022, with a score of 7-2. For Wartburg, this match will serve as their season opener.

Results from the contest will be available on iwusports.com following its conclusion.
