Two Redbirds have been awarded the Missouri Valley Conference Runners of the Week following the Redbird Invite Friday afternoon at Weibring Golf Club.
Seniors Mattison Plummer and Mathis Chavand earned conference honors following a strong display on Friday.
Plummer ran a time of 21:31.1 in the 6,000-meter race on her way to capture her first win of the 2024 season. Chavand followed by recording a personal best time of 23:57.2 in the 8,000-meter event on his path to victory to begin his 2024 campaign. Chavand also ran the fastest time at Weibring Golf Club of any runner in Illinois State program history.
The Redbirds are set to travel to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri. The event is set to begin at 9 a.m.
