McLean County Unit School District 5 Board Finance Committee met Aug. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

COMMITTEE ATTENDEES: Stan Gozur, Dr. Kristen Weikle, Marty Hickman, Tommy Hoerr

COMMITTEE ABSENTEES: Alex Williams

OTHER UNIT 5 ATTENDEES: Julie Hagler

1.2024 - 2025 BUDGET

●Mr. Hoerr presented the FY 2025 Proposed Budget. Major revenue and expenditure assumptions for the Education, Operations and Maintenance, Transportation and Tort Funds were discussed.

The Education Fund is projected to end the year with a net change of $7.7 million. The Operations and Maintenance Fund is projected to end the year with a net change of $331 thousand. The Transportation Fund is projected to end the year with a net change of -$1.8 million. The Tort Fund is projected to end the year with a net change of $108 thousand.

2.FUND BALANCE POLICY

●The Committee had a short discussion about fund balance policy. The Committee determined that more discussion about this topic was needed at future meetings.

3.NORMAL WEST FOOTBALL STADIUM SOUND SYSTEM BID

●Mr. Hoerr updated the Committee on the NCWHS football stadium sound system bid. Sealed bids were opened on 8/13/2024, and two bidders participated. The project team is reviewing the bids and will make a decision by the end of this week. A memo for recommendation of award will be presented to the Board at the 8/21/2024 meeting for consideration.

4.PUBLIC COMMENTS

●No members of the public were present for comment.

The meeting adjourned at 3:53 PM.

The next meeting is September 13, 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Unit Office.
