BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will send juniors Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) and Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) to represent the Green and White at the prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional, hosted by Washington University in St. Louis. Action will take place at the Tao Tennis Center Friday-Sunday, Sept. 20-22.

This will mark Turnbull's third season competing at the regional event, while Vigneri will make his second appearance. Last season, the duo kickstarted the tournament with a win in doubles action, taking down Illinois Institute of Technology's Davis Housman and Alann Torress, 8-5. In the Round of 32, the pair fell 8-3 to third-seed Scott Yamanoto and Sergiu Celebidachi from Washington University in St. Louis.

In singles action, Turnbull picked up a first-round win over Peyton Specht from Ohio Northern University, using set scores of 6-2, 6-3 to do so before falling in the round of 64. Playing in the round of 32, Vigneri battled Principia's Ernesto Botero-Diaz. He won the opening set 6-1 but was upended from there, falling 7-5, 10-6 in a tight back-and-forth affair.

In Turnbull's freshman season, he defeated Trey Kernan from Baldwin Wallace University in singles play to open his ITA debut. Turnbull won in commanding fashion with scores of 6-1 and 6-0 to move to the round-of-32 field to face University of Chicago's Emil Grantcharov right after. However, Turnbull could not pull out his second-straight match win of the day as he dropped his game with scores of 6-3 and 6-0.

Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon completion of the tournament.
