Following a successful weekend in Florida, Illinois State volleyball freshman Khenedi Guest has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Freshman of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Monday.

Guest played a key role for the Redbirds, leading them to a 2-1 finish at the Owls Paradise Classic and earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She completed the weekend with 37 kills on a .500 hitting percentage.

Against Stetson, Guest achieved a career high of 14 kills on 20 swings, hitting .550. Throughout the weekend, she recorded 11 total blocks and averaged 3.38 points per set for a total of 44 points.

As of this week, Guest ranks seventh in the MVC for hitting percentage (.289) and is tied for tenth in blocks with 37, including nine block solos which place her fourth in the MVC.

This marks Guest's first MVC Freshman of the Week honor and is also the first MVC weekly award for an Illinois State player since Mari Hinkle was named MVC Defensive Player of the Week in November 2023.

The Redbirds will start their 2024 MVC season on Friday against Murray State at CEFCU Arena at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear red for ISU's RED OUT event.
