The Redbird men's tennis team is set to travel to San Diego for the 67th Annual Men's College Invitational hosted by San Diego University. The team recently completed a successful weekend at home, finishing with a 12-3 record in singles play and a 5-2 mark in doubles competition.

The doubles pair of juniors Caden Scarlett and Tomas Valencia have made notable achievements early in the season. Scarlett and Valencia have won two flight doubles championships within the first two invitationals of the 2024-25 season. They defeated Contreras and Kitchin of Eastern Kentucky University 8-7 at the Redbird Invitational. At the River Forest Invitational hosted by Northern Illinois, they secured another tournament win by besting WashU's Scruggs and Fagan 7-6 (7).

This weekend's event will feature one singles draw and one doubles draw over four days of tournament play. All matches will be held at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center on the campus of San Diego University.

The Redbirds will compete against a field of 18 teams. Brackets and information can be found on the ITA College Tennis website.

Following this event, Illinois State will conclude their fall schedule in East Lansing, Michigan, at the ITA Midwest Regionals from October 10-14, hosted by Michigan State University.
