Illinois State women’s golf finishes third at Johnie Imes Invitational

The Illinois State women's golf team secured third place at the 2024 Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by the University of Missouri. The Redbirds moved up two spots in the final standings with a score of 599, marking the third-lowest 36-hole tournament score in their program's history.

Florida Gulf Coast claimed the team title with a one-under score of 575. Tournament host Missouri finished second with a score of 590, narrowly beating Illinois State by nine strokes. Other participating teams included Bradley (599), Missouri State (602), Austin Peay (605), Morehead State (606), Howard (608), Eastern Kentucky (609), Omaha (613), Barry (619), Drake (620), and Murray State (624).

Following a weekend break, Illinois State will compete again on Monday, October 7 at the Loyola Parkinson Family Invitational held at the Merit Club in Libertyville, Illinois.

Yun was the top performer for Illinois State, finishing tied for 10th with a three-over 148 for the 36 holes. Her final round included a par, birdie, and bogey early on, followed by another birdie on the par-three 13th hole. She concluded her round with seven pars before ending with a double bogey and par.

Morgan Jones finished tied for 18th with a five-over-par total of 149. Her performance featured a birdie on the par-four 14th hole and four bogeys against thirteen pars.

Freshman Elise Fennell recorded an eight-over-par total of 152 to tie for 29th place individually. She had thirteen pars and five bogeys in her final round.

Another freshman, Jessica Jolly, carded a two-over-par total of 153 to tie for 33rd place. Her performance included three birdies and twelve pars.

Alex Sparrow, also a freshman, finished just behind Jolly with a total score of 154 to tie for 39th place. Sparrow's round featured two birdies and ten pars.

Lory Paradis played as an individual and ended with a score of 157 to tie for 49th place in the tournament field.
