City of Fairbury City Council met Sept. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jon Kinate, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, Bill Schmidgall.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Endres, second by Kinate to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the August 21, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 6-0 YES- Norris Endres Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

➢ The sidewalk ADA compliant project has begun.

A. Motion by Tipton, second by Kinate to approve a request from the Student Senate of Prairie Central High School to use City streets on Friday, September 27th at 2:30 p.m. continuing for one half hour for the annual Homecoming Parade. Motion carried 6-0 YES-Norris Endres Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

B. Consideration to approve an ordinance establishing a two-way stop at the intersection of E Elm St and 6th Street – FAILED FOR LACK OF MOTION

C. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Norris to approve a supplemental resolution to add construction cost to the 2024 MFT Program. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Endres Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

D. Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to approve amendments to Chapter 6: Refuse and Garbage .08 Residential Use of City Dumpsters. Motion carried 6-0 YES – Norris Endres Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

E. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Tipton to approve 60k for asphalt or 80k for concrete, 8 in reinforced concrete left up to the developer for a new road in Fairbury Industrial Park. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Endres Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
